Hi everyone:

I'm new to boards like this, but I have a problem that neither McAfee, SpyBot, Malwarebytes, PC Tools, Hitman Pro, or anything else has yet fixed.

In looking around the internet, I discovered using HiJackThis, and I have pasted the log at the end of this message.

Just like everyone else with the problem, when I search on Google, each link redirects me to an unwanted location. Pop up windows show up all over. Besides the annoyance, I have a prodigious fear more is going on in my computer that I have no idea about.

Here is the HiJackThis log roll:

hi

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    msconfig
    safebootminimal
    safebootnetwork
    activex
    drivers32
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    nvstor32.sys
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\Results\Install|LastSuccessTime /rs

  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time

Hi there--

Thanks so much for the help!

OTL would not run on the computer. When I tried to open it, it says "...OTL is not a valid Win32 application."

rename it to svchost.com

it run then ?

if not do this

Download this programme

Drag each of the exe files that you are unable to run into Inherit.exe.

Then wait for it to say "OK"

It did not run as svchost, so I used Inherit and dragged and dropped as you advised. It said "OK", but then nothing else happened :-/

hi

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved and renamed following this process directly to your desktop**
  • If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
    • Tools->Options->Main tab
    • Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".
  • During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    Posted Image

    Posted Image

  • It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
  • Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\Combo-Fix.txt" for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combo-fix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

For some reason, Kaspersky is saying that I'm using "Safari" as my browser and my computer is therefore not in line for the scan.

Is there another method I can use?

on the flip side, however, the redirect seems to have stopped!!

HOORAY!

Do you think I should be worried about anything (and I hate to sound so paranoid) like "watching" my computer? Is it really 'clean'?

Thanks again for all your help... it really is amazing of you guys to offer this service. I REALLY appreciate it!

The new IE 8 (strangely enough) will not work on my computer, and I uninstalled Firefox before I came on to the board, here.

However, I'm actually not using Safari-- I'm using Chrome... that's whay it was strange that it wasn't compatible.

probably a stock warning

do this then

Please click here to download AVP Tool by Kaspersky.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Reboot your computer into SafeMode.

You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears.
Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter
    .

  • Double click the setup file to run it.
  • Click Next to continue.
  • It will by default install it to your desktop folder.Click Next.
  • Hit ok at the prompt for scanning in Safe Mode.
